Okay, so I think I have waited long enough to see the results of this experiment.
The verdict is, I don’t think adding content increases your rankings but so much.
Here is the update:
Site #1
3 word main keyword
exact match domain
allinurl: 700+
allintitle: 500+
allinanchor: 71000+
No. of pages of unique content: 15
Current ranking: #6
Site #2
2 word main keyword
keyword in the domain + extra character
allinurl: 185K+
allintitle: 62000+
allinanchor: 1.7M+
No. of pages of unique content: 24
Current ranking: #71
As you can see, Site #1 has moved up 2 spots and Site #2 has dropped by 2 spots. I guess it’s really not definitive since one site dropped and one site increase, but overall +/- 2 spots isn’t much at all. I would have to conclude that adding content to your sites does not affect rankings one way or another.
My plan is to hit these sites with a few more links and start to move these sites by increasing the backlinks. As we know, this is a proven way to increase the rankings of your sites.
So I finally got the articles back that I ordered for this experiment. My writer has been super slow as of late. He must be really busy or slacking off.
Today, I will add these articles to the 2 sites and submit a total of 4 unique articles to my blog network in order to get the spiders interested again. In 2 weeks (hopefully less) we’ll see if it made a difference or not.
Here is an update on the 2 sites:
Site #1
3 word main keyword
exact match domain
allinurl: 700+
allintitle: 500+
allinanchor: 71000+
No. of pages of unique content: 15 (after the articles are added)
Current ranking: #8
Site #2
2 word main keyword
keyword in the domain + extra character
allinurl: 185K+
allintitle: 62000+
allinanchor: 1.7M+
No. of pages of unique content: 24 (after the articles are added)
Current ranking: #69
Surprisingly, Site #2 has jumped in ranking from #129-#69. I am not sure what caused this jump exactly. Maybe some of the links that I built months ago are starting to get picked up, who knows. We’ll see what adding content does to the ranking.
I went to see this movie because I am a pretty big The Office fan, hence I am a big Steve Carell fan. Pretty big mistake on my part, lol.
The movie did have a few big laughs like the dinner scene and the brunch scene, but that was about it. Most of the funny scenes were shown in the trailer.
Overall, the movie was pretty slow and predictable.
I give it a C and my recommendation is to wait until this one is released on video if you want to see it.
Home sweet home.
Well, my site has been restored to it’s former #2 position in the SERPS. That didn’t take much work at all. I thought it would be much harder to do.
The site currently sits in front of an exact match domain (the owner is probably saying, “where the heck did this guy come from”) and my arch nemesis Amazon. Hopefully this site will start to convert a few of the visitors to sales because it’s a summer time niche. I probably only have the month of August and then the visitors will significantly drop off.
A have a few sites like this that are positioned behind Amazon in the SERPS. I believe my mistake here was choosing keywords in which Amazon pages are ranked in position #1 with a PR of 4. In every case where I rank #2 in the SERPS behind Amazon, the PR of their pages are 4.
I don’t know what the magic number is, but next time I will seek out keywords in which position #1 has a PR of 3 or below. We’ll see how that works out.

Just wanted to update the progress on this blog post.
My site is back in business and has been climbing the SERPS for the past couple of days. What I had to do was drop the site from my hosting account and the reinstate it as a add-on domain. This got the site back up and operational.
I also converted the site from a static html site to a wordpress site. I had been wanting to do this for a while and this seemed like as good a time as any. This process was much easier than I originally thought. I think it wound up taking me about an hour or so to do the full transformation. I will make a post about this later on for anyone else that needs help doing this.
Finally, I submitted a few spun posts to my own blog network so that the spiders would follow the links to the new site.
Everything I have done for the site seems to be working out pretty well. Currently, the site sits at #128 in the SERPS. This is up from about #350+ where it was a couple of days ago. Hopefully, the site will return to it’s rightful place of #2 in the SERPS (behind Amazon of course, gotta find a way to beat them easily).
My only issue right now is that since the slip, someone has taken my #2 spot with an exact match .com domain. Might be hard to beat but I am up for the fight.
I will keep track of this site within the coming weeks.
If you haven’t seen Inception yet, you are missing out. This is hands down the best movie I have seen all year. Without giving too much away, Inception is an alternate reality movie in which the majority of the plot takes place in the dreams of the cast. I won’t get into what inception is because it will give away what the movie is truly about but I will say that it was incredibly done.
I tried to describe this movie to a few friends of mine and the only comparison I could come up with is The Matrix, and I only say that because they are both alternate reality movies. The 2 movies are definitely different.
I had no idea that the director of the movie, Christopher Nolan, did other great films like The Dark Knight and The Prestige. When I heard he was the same guy who did Memento, the film Inception made total sense to me. He played the same type of mind games with the audience in Memento as he did in Inception. You were constantly trying to remember what just happen and trying to piece that together with the overall plot of the movie.
My guess is Inception will be nominated next year for best picture. The strange part about it is that no one actor/actress really stood out in the movie. They all just really had solid performances. Also, I think the film has a good chance to win an award for special effects (That is if James Cameron doesn’t have a film coming out this year, lol) just for the hotel fight scene alone.
The only bad thing that I can say about the movie is that it came out way to early in the year to be considered for the Oscars. But I am sure there will be come sort of re-release once all the big time films come out later on this year.
Overall I give this movie an A+. Brilliantly done!
PS – The ending of the movie is going to get’cha!
This is just a quick tip for anyone that has a bunch of money sites up, check them every now and then to see if they are still up.
I have a site up selling Amazon products that has been ranked #2-#3 for it’s main keyword for a while now. I saw the rankings slip about a week or 2 ago and just chalked it up to the Google dance or maybe even the sandbox. I even thought that I may have been penalized for over-onpage optimization by keyword stuffing.
Little did I know the site had been down for approx 2 weeks and I had no idea, LOL! Two days ago I loaded up some software on my laptop in order to check critical onpage optimization factors and low and behold, the site didn’t show in the software’s internal browser. So I pop the URL in firefox and what do you know, zippy! That’s awesome. My site has been down for about 2 weeks or so and I didn’t even know it. Chalk that one up to experience and boneheadedness.
Anyway, the moral of the story is don’t just assume the Google dance has hit your site. Check it and make sure its up.
Now, I have to get a watch dog script up and running to email me when one/some of my sites are down.
So, there are two schools of thought on this subject. Basically some people say that you can and some say that you can’t. Well, I have done some limited research of my own on the subject and y results were more often than not when I added content to my sites, their rankings did indeed increase.
So what I am going to do is give this one a shot again and make sure that I keep track of the results.
I have two sites that I will be adding content to, specifically to see whether or not the ranking will increase or not. I not really sure of a good tie frame to test this theory out, so let’s just say two weeks. Here are some stats on the two sites:
Site #1
3 word main keyword
exact match domain
allinurl: 700+
allintitle: 500+
allinanchor: 71000+
No. of pages of unique content: 5
Current ranking: #8
Site #2
2 word main keyword
keyword in the domain + extra character
allinurl: 185K+
allintitle: 62000+
allinanchor: 1.7M+
No. of pages of unique content: 14
Current ranking: #129
The Plan
I will add 10 articles a piece to each of these sites and then see what happens. I will probably submit 2 unique articles a piece to a blog network to attract the spiders back to the sites in order to the changes to propagate throughout the SERPS.
These sites already have had some SEO work done to them but there will be no other links added to these sites during the time period where I will be adding this extra content.
My theory is that the sites’ SERPS ranking will increase. Hopefully this will work. Again, I am not so much interested in how many places the sites move, I just want to see if there is movement at all. We’ll see.
Stay tuned…
